Types of blogging communities and methods to build blogging communities
What is the blogging community?
Blog communities that aggregate the individual and independent blogs of a number of people with a shared interest – the same cause, similar political views, business interest, etc (Kinkeldei, 2007). Nevertheless, it is also a platform for the blogger to increase their blog's traffic and followers. First of all, to create a blogging community, the blogger themselves have to create their own social network, for instance, it is easier for them to advertise their blog and increase the number of followers. For an example, blogging community can easily expand with RSS. From here, we can briefly know how to create a blogging community.
According to White (2006), there is 3 types of blogging community, which is the single blog centric community, the central connecting topic community and also the Boundaried community.
SINGLE BLOG CENTRIC COMMUNITY
-The first and most visible model of focus and spoke model of 'one blog/blogger.
-It only owned by one owner or an organisation.
-Might be more than 1 author, but it is not an aggregation of blogs
-A blog where readers will return and leave comments, not only that readers can get to know the blogger itself and also the other community of commentators. For an example, Xiaxue's blog
THE CENTRAL CONNECTING TOPIC COMMUNITY
-Instead of hub and spoke, the Central Connecting Centric blog community is a network formation where they reader share their common passion.
-They linked together and became a network.
-For an example, "Global Voices" is one of the central connecting topic community.
BOUNDARIED COMMUNITY
-gathered other's blog and readers hosted from a single site or platform.
-often this website function like social network, community can join the group and get the chance to create a blog.
-In this blogging community, they have discussion board, social networking features, wikis and instant messaging.
-For an example, "Edublogs" and "Myspace" is one of the best example.

CLASSIFICATION OF BLOGS AND OPINION ABOUT THE MOST APPROPRIATE CLASSIFICATION APPROACH
From the previous post, we talked about the current blogosphere and also the benefits towards the society. Nevertheless, the classification of blogs are also important. Each and every blog that written, they have their own genre and classification regarding on what their blogs bring to the public. The blogosphere phenomenon grow tremendously and it is getting harder to classify the types of blog as there is too many different types of blogger, the scope of writing is wider than how we can classify it. Thus, different person classify blog differently.
According to Belardo (2010), she classified blogs into 5 types:
- Collaborative blog
- Tutorial blog
- Travel and cultural blog
- Fashion and lifestyle blog
- Personal blog
Among the 5 types of blog above, personal blog is the most common one. Everyone can have their own personal blog to write about their daily life or as a dairy. Meanwhile, Simons (2008) classified it into 9 types, which is:
- Pampletheering blogs
- Digest blogs
- Advocacy blogs
- Popular mechanics blogs
- Exhibition blogs
- Gatewatcher blogs
- Diary
- Advertisement
- News blog
Throughout this 2 different people who classified the blog types differently, I would like to say that, Simon (2010) classifed it more in depth. Whereas, Belardo (2010) classified the types of blog in a very general way. In my opinion, I would like the way how Simon (2010) classified the genre and style of writing of each type of blog. Meanwhile, I found that Rowse (2010) classified it as details as how Simon (2010) did, but they have different opinion towards the genre and types of blog, so they came out with different type of blogs.

Blog as current phenomenon and benefits of blogging to the community
In the advance technology era, blogging is very common towards internet user. Lately, it has became a trend towards the community and also towards internet users all around the world. Blog has become an integral part of online culture ( Chapman, 2011). Undeniable, out of 10 internet users, with a brief assumption, 8 of them do have the habit of reading blog. Here is some brief history of blogging, do click and visit. According to the most current phenomenon, from my research, i found that this article from Technorati, "blogosphere of 2010" has the most current phenomenon of blogging. By summarizing the article, i would like to focus on this 2 main subject that make an big impact towards the society. As the blogosphere converges with social media, sharing of blog posts is increasingly done through social networks( Sobel, 2010 ). From the statement that I quoted, it is clearly shown that the current blogosphere is getting wider and bigger than previous; as social network became part of everyone's life.
With the current blogosphere, in Malaysia, the trend of blog's that people read are more about daily lifestyle (entertainment, fashion, food, daily rant etc. ) and also politic blogs.

From the blog above, society can have alternative way to access the information from daily life to politics. If you read from the blog above, basically you will realized that they are actually shared their personal life or opinion towards the public. Nevertheless, in America, blogs are very common, but the most prevalent among all kind of blogs are political blogs. For example, http://www.americablog.com/, it brings a lot of benefits to the country and society, reveal the truth of politics in the country and also a place where people can express and voice out their opinion. Nevertheless, most of the youngster do intervene themselves in the cyber world, by writing political views, it can actually encourage more "Y" generation to involve themselves in politics.
